Just yesterday, Wikileaks again released secretive TPP text from the Salt Lake City talks. See:
After four long years of secrecy and arm-twisting in TPP “negotiations” (more like bullying), the US Trade Representative in league with corporate elite is attempting to coerce other nations to sign against their own national interests for the benefit of the 1%! Congress needs to assert its authority and end this global debacle.
Due to the malfeasance of Wall Street banksters causing the mortgage crisis and the world economy to crash, and now the corporate puppets in congress insisting on austerity, we are experiencing an epidemic of hunger, poverty, and homelessness. Predatory banks have foreclosed upon people illegally, jobs have vanished, and we the people are being dispossessed.
Unchecked carbon emissions have altered the atmosphere and the resulting climate change is causing record droughts and famines. At the same time, our food supply is being threatened and controlled like never before. Pesticide companies like Monsanto have patented genetically-modified seeds that can withstand toxic chemicals like the neonicotinoids research has identified as responsible for the destruction of bee colonies and are pushing Frankenfood onto consumers, without GMO labelling.
We are facing a worldwide crisis perpetrated by corporate giants who would extend their corporate rule through the abuse of our Bill of Rights by corporate “personhood” nationally, and globally by “treaties” like the TPP. Citizens, voters, consumers are the losers and we must join together and fight for our right to decent work at a liveable wage, affordable housing, and a safe and nutritious food supply.
Air Occupy will be having a probative discussion of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, aka the TPP, today at 8 a.m. PST on www.GoliathRadio.com
The Trans-Pacific Partnership is a secretly-negotiated agreement between the United States, Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, and Vietnam with options for countries such as Korea, Thailand, and China to join over time, that has been referred to as “NAFTA on steroids” and a “1%er power tool” by Lori Wallach at Citizens’ Trade Watch. It is crucial that we stop the passage of this toxic, undemocratic, corporate monster that will defeat democracy itself, both domestically and abroad, as corporate ISDS tribunals will trump local, state, and federal governments and the will of the people if it passes.
You know, at this point I believe that Obama was picked by the 1% (the Bilderbergs, et al) to be a kind of Trojan horse, so that he could put outrageous policies in place that no Republican ever could, while appealing to ‘liberals’ and the left because of his ethnicity and perceived progressive values. Though I think the 1% would have slightly preferred McCain or Romney, it’s my belief they were hedging their bets in 2008 and in 2012 with Obama whom I believe was the ace up the sleeve, intended to usher in an era of globalized corporate government and an end to democracy as we have known it, all under the radar of the vast majority of people who aren’t paying attention. How else do you explain all the campaign contributions from Wall Street?
It was also a brilliant stroke with regard to pitting everyone against one another, with all the Obamabots calling anyone who opposed him “racist,” alienating women who supported Hillary, pitting Democrats and third party and independents against one another, not to mention infuriating the radical right and the white supremacists. He has polarized and splintered America like no one else could have and there’s nothing the puppetmasters like better than divide and conquer!
While Romney was a bad liar; Obama is a very skilled, manipulative, charming liar who could persuade anyone (almost) that he is a wonderful guy trying to do the right thing but who is being thwarted by those big bad Tea Party Republicans. I am unconvinced by this argument, or that he is “weak” as many people on the left think, because his administration’s illegal wars, extrajudicial assassinations, drone attacks, “kill” list, illegal wiretapping, demolition of civil liberties a la the NDAA 2012 and now 2013, HR 347, persecution of whistleblowers like Bradley Manning and Julian Assange, and secretly trying to pass the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) treaty that would enshrine a global corporate government reveal that he is anything but weak and suggest that he is, on the contrary, a power-wielding megalomaniac bent on faithfully serving the interests of the wealthy elite and the erection of an authoritarian fascist state.
He tosses a few bones to the liberals (while he kicks the true Left in the teeth repeatedly) to keep them off his scent and pacified, all the while letting off all the war criminals, crooks, exploiters, polluters, and thieves, expanding the egregious abuses of his office, and decimating the Constitution. He’s very good at practicing diversion, another malefactor’s tactic. Indeed as many people have suggested, he does deserve to be impeached, but not because of a supposed lack of birth documents, but for his abandoning his oath of office and servile protectionism of the anti-democratic (not the Party!) powers-that-be.
Howard Berman, unrepentant architect and supporter of the infamous SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act), legislation that would have granted ISP’s enormous unchecked power to restrict Internet freedom and allowed big companies to elbow out competitors, is among the people apparently being considered by Obama to replace Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State. The appointment of Berman, who is so known for his protectionism of the entertainment industry and copyright interests that he has earned the moniker as the “representative from Hollywood,” though his congressional district (26) included cities along the San Gabriel foothills from La Canada Flintridge to as far East as Rancho Cucamonga when he served in Congress should be opposed.
In addition, another huge concern is his record on trade, which, though not uniform, has been mostly supportive of “free trade” agreements, voting for NAFTA and for supporting the World Trade Organization and would indicate that he may likely push for the passage of the nefarious Trans-Pacific Partnership, an agreement that would enable corporate interests to subvert governments on a global scale. He also voted for the FISA Amendments Act of 2008 and sponsored the Anti-Boycott Act in the House, which would have prohibited Americans from boycotting Israeli goods in order to protest the occupation of Palestine. There is a theme here that causes us to conclude that he would not be a good pick for Secretary of State as he has favored government control over civil liberties and protecting corporate interests over the freedom of citizens.

While representatives in Washington debate the “fiscal cliff” of their own invention, we are edging ever closer to a real, physical cliff: extreme weather due to carbon emissions. After almost entirely avoiding the issue of climate change and the need for pursuing alternatives to fossil fuels during the presidential debates, Hurricane Sandy hit with a vengeance to drive the point home how critical the situation is and I credit it with playing a role in defeating Republicans this November, particularly Romney.
Despite Sandy and the increasing urgency for action, the naysayers and dimwitted demagogues in Washington pretend that their made-up budget deadline is more important than attending the Climate Summit in Doha, Qatar. Sen. Inhofe, true to form, is reportedly questioning why anyone should attend the conference as the White House and Congress are embroiled in budget so-called “negotiations” (going nowhere as usual) and are conspicuously absent. Though the developing nations of India and China now are producing huge amounts of CO2, the U. S. remains the most flagrantly unrelenting in its refusal to ratify carbon reduction agreements, even though it has had the worst historical record of carbon emissions, and its inattendance severely thwarts worldwide efforts to change course.
I wonder if the moronic Inhofe is still declaring climate change a “hoax” in the wake of Sandy. His state of Oklahoma has been experiencing record drought, like the rest of the Great Plains states: North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Montana, Wyoming, New Mexico, and Colorado, but this hasn’t previously phased him. It is curious to note that all these same states, with the exception of New Mexico and Colorado, voted for Romney, a climate denier, in the last election. Perhaps the residents of these states, along with the disinformation-pushing Koch Bros., need to take a tour of the eastern seaboard, and witness the destruction firsthand so that they might be shaken awake, as every coastal state, from Maine to Florida, was affected, along with other northeastern states like Michigan and Wisconsin, as the storm traveled clear across the Appalachians.
Corporate agriculture, enabled by global-warming scoffing Republicans like Inhofe, will increasingly be attempting to profiteer off tragic disasters like megastorm Sandy, as Naomi Klein outlines in her book, “Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism.” You can bet that they will be pushing more and more GMO crops, hormones, and pesticides in order to try to circumvent nature rather than correcting the problem of burning fossil fuels. This is equivalent to what the pharmaceutical industry does in pushing drugs that fool your body into thinking its ok rather than going after the cause of the illness and curing it.
We cannot look to our plutocratic government to lead nor can we hope for any solutions from the greed-driven corporate world. As always, we the people are the ones who will effect real change by direct action and demanding that our government do what is needed, e. g. institute serious emissions reduction, pursue clean alternatives to dirty energy, and preserve tropical rainforests. We must also end corporate “personhood” and money as speech, and stop the Trans-Pacific Partnership as they figure into this largely: corporate “personhood” is the root problem behind all the others and the TPP would institute global corporate government and permanently hamper efforts to slow global warming or protect the environment.
Bill McKibben, who heads up 350.org, has been doing a “Do the Math” tour to help raise awareness regarding heating of the planet because of CO2 emissions and resulting climate change. He has been encouraging students to pressure their college boards to divest themselves of big polluters, which has expanded into an effort at schools across the country. This is how we get things done! For more information on these issues, check out these links:
